in those days people used to take bath facing only east direction saying that sun god should be worshipped while taking bath. it is presumed that only to warm up it is practised to face east direction since people used to take bath in the open space like ponds/sea or even in the well in their own houses in the rear side of their house. not like nowadays in the tiny bathroom built within the apts andfixed with geycer and all equipments. sun radiates heat and people get natural heat. that is the practical application of the practice followed. science combined with practical life convenience.
